Here is a outline map of Cornwall showing the geographical regions.  This map is
courtesy of Bob Trevethan of Lisekard.  Bob says that the boundaries of these regions
vary depending on who is using them.
Based on the research of Donis Trevathan Bettis, the ancestors of the U.S. Trevathans lived in and
around the towns of Penzance and Helston in West Cornwall.  For more discussion of these ancestors

Trevethan and Trevathan locations in Cornwall

The book: Dictionary of American Family Names by Patrick Hanks, published by Oxford University Press
says  that Trevethan was a place name in the parishes of Budock, St. Eval, and Gwennap.

Apparently there is no Trevethan name today near
St. Eval.

Trevethan place names exist today in Falmouth, at St. Day, and at Porthcothan.  Bob Trevethan of
Cornwall has supplied us with the information to see these current Trevethan location names:

Use this link to see
Trevathan at St. Day (near Redruth).  "The main farm is now Higher Trevethan, and
just below it a short terrace of what I suspect were the Labourers Cottages, - now known as Lower
Trevethan."

Use this link for the
Trevethan location near Porthcothan (near St. Merryn).

"Trevethan in Budock near Falmouth is more difficult as it no longer exists.  As the city of Falmouth
expanded over the years the farm and fields were re-developed and all that we have now-a-days is
Trevethan Road which of course led from Falmouth to Trevethan."  Use this link to see the
Trevethan
roads in Falmouth.

A Trevathan Farm is located near St. Isaac.  Their web site gives more information on the history of this
location.  See also the discussion of the origin of that name in the
Origins page.
